Photo Montage - Photo Collage Creation Frequently Asked QuestionsYou say you create photo montages and photo collages. What's the difference?Actually the terms are used synonymously. However, we refer to montages as blended images brought together, and collages are images that are not blended. This is our own interpretation for decision-making purposes. How do I send my pictures to you? Can I send you originals? We prefer to work from copies of your images, so your originals stay safely in your possession. -You can have copies made from your negatives or prints at most photo places. -You can have your images scanned at high resolution (we recommend 300dpi) and put on a CD in Tiff or JPEG format to mail to us. -You can email your scanned or digital images to us -You can send us good quality color copies made from your images (made on a color copy machine). When mailing copies, please place them between two pieces of cardboard, and tape the cardboard on at least two ends to keep the photographs secure. We suggest sending them via a mailing or delivery system that will give you a record of your mailing. If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. I want to email my photos. Where do I send them?Photos can be emailed here. I have lots of pictures! How do I decide which ones to use?It can be a daunting task to decide which photographs to use! We suggest starting first with a theme and then selecting the best quality photographs that will go along with that theme. (Please keep in mind that if a picture is blurry or out-of-focus, it will be that way in the montage). If you need help in deciding a theme, give us a call Can you give me some theme suggestions? We can help you decide a theme once we know who the montage is for, who it's featuring, and the occasion (if applicable). Some of the favorite themes include: Weddings- gathering favorite images from a wedding to give to family members Through the years- featuring a child growing up on through graduation, wedding, etc. Nostalgia - highlighting a period of time Traditions - taking photos from the annual camping trip, New Year's Day gathering, etc, from the past years Travel- Vacation Legacy - for memorial services- featuring the life and times of an individual How many pictures should I send? This is generally determined by the desired completed size of the photo montage. If you look at our Photo montage creation sample here, 7 images were used for an 8x10 completed image. With Photo montage sample 2, eleven images were used for a completed image size of 12x18. For larger sizes, we suggest more photos, but then again it depends. If you have any questions about this, please call us. Some of my photos have cracks or damage. Can you fix this?We will do minor retouching at no charge. If we determine that more work is needed (something that will take longer than 15 minutes to fix), we will contact you and let you know what needs to be done and give you a quote. How long does it take to have the work done?Depending on the season, we can have a proof to you within a week (during holidays-Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day- allow an extra week), and upon approval, we can have your finished art piece shipped to you within two weeks after that. How will I know if I like what you've done with my photos? We provide you with a proof for approval before we make the final print. If any changes are needed, it can be handled at this time There are many places that do montages. Why should we choose you? Each place that offers photo montage services has their own particular
vision. Some places will just take your pictures and gang-print them
on a page. Other places will artistically place them to make them esthetically
pleasing. Our vision is to artistically design an art piece that you
will be proud to hand down for generations to come. We want you to have
something that people will ask you "Wow-WHERE did you have that done?" And besides, we love this stuff! We love telling stories about people and their lives. We love taking bits of broken history and bringing it together ( Read our article on the healing power of photographs). I have some photographs from a professional photographer. Can I use these?Images from a professional photographer can only be used with the photographer's written permission. Can I get copies of my photo art montage?Yes, we provide inexpensive copies of your art piece for you to give to others. Check our pricing here. I'm ready to get started! How do I order? Please fill out our contact form. We will contact you for specifics on your custom photo montage.
