Planning Your Portrait Art
Isn't it worth the time and effort to have something
that you'll really
enjoy?
Beautiful and memorable portraits do not just happen-
they are carefully
and purposefully planned.
Our goal is to provide you with images that you will be proud to display
in your home as your own personal pieces of art, be it a child's portrait,
a maternity portrait, or one that highlights special relationships in
your life.
The Design Session
To successfully create your special keepsake portrait, together we discuss
the theme, mood, and what you want the final outcome to be. Where will
your art be displayed and will there be duplicate prints to be given
as gifts?
What will the finished prints look like? Will they be in color? Black
and white? Will there be color tints to the black and white images?
For a child's portrait session, we will discuss what defines your child
at this age. What are the clothing, props, and personal items that can
play a subtle but dynamic part of the image? Is there a favorite toy,
hat, or a special blanket given by Grandma?
or a special blanket given by grandma? Are there such items as
a musical instrument...or dance clothing...that can be incorporated?
For those special relationships, what are the activities and things
that are mutually enjoyed? What clothing and props will add to the
image?
Where will the portrait be created? In the studio, at your home, or
an outside location?
These are some of the things we discuss together before any images
are taken.
The Portrait Session
Here's where the real fun begins! Depending on the type of session,
this part of the creation process can take anywhere from
40 minutes to 2 hours. Approximately 20-50 images will be taken to capture
the expressions, emotions, and the essence of those being photographed.
This is a special time set aside just for you, and all necessary preparations
are taken for this to be an enjoyable experience.
Making Your Selections
After your session, your images are processed in DVD format, giving
you the opportunity to enjoy your session again! They're generally available
for viewing within 72 hours and we'll set up a convenient time for you
to return to make your selections and decisions on how they are to be
finished. Plan to spend at least an hour going over your beautiful images
and making selections for the final prints.
On to the Finish!
An original print, from each selected image, is handmade on fine quality,
archival watercolor paper, guaranteed to last for generations to come.
Image enhancements, from retouching to hand-coloring, are done with
meticulous attention to detail. The completed original is signed by the
artist, and made ready for framing.
For gift-giving keepsakes, duplicates
of the original art prints are made available on archival photographic
paper.
Finished portraits are ready for pickup in 4-6 weeks.
With orders totaling $2500 or more, we'll ship to any address in the
U.S.!
